Sales promotion is the process of persuading a potential customer to buy the product. Sales promotion is designed to be used as a short-term tactic to boost sales.

This document helps you to learn how to create different types of promotions in POSibolt.

There are four types of promotions available in POSibolt, Which are as follows:

  1. Promotion A: Qty Based Discounts

Eg: Buy > 4 items of group X, get 10% off, buy > 6, get 20% off, buy > 10 and get 50% off all

  1. Promotion B: Mix & Match

Eg: Buy 3X & get N% off on Y

  1. Promotion C: Bundled Pricing

Eg: Buy 3X for 20

  1. Promotion D: Reward on Total

Eg: Buy > 1000 Get 5% Discount OR 1X for Free

Before you go to create a promotion, you will need to create a promotion group for promotional items. 

In the promotion group, you define the Base product(Attribute combination products) or product or product category or group1 or group2 or Vendor (It will allow you to create promotion only for the items which are tied up with vendor namewhich are to be included in promotions. Only the ones defined here will be eligible for promotions.

How to create a promotion Group

To access the promotion group you will need to

  1. Navigate to the main menu
  2. Click on the Administration
  3. Click on the promotion group
  1. Click on the  button from the right top corner.

Now, you will get a screen to create a new promotion group.

  1. Select the organization from the drop down (Keep * if the promotion group is applied for all branches.
  2. Enter the promotion group name. 
  3. Enter the Description of the promotion group. 
  4. Select Active checkbox (The promotion group is active in the system only if this is selected).
  5. Select Promotion Group Line Type(Choose a promotion group line type from the dropdown) 
  • Base Product
  • Product
  • Product category
  • Group 1
  • Group 2
  • Vendor
  1. Add Promotion Lines :Promotion lines need to be added based on the Promotion Group Line type chosen.

In this document, I am going to create a promotion group for few products using promotion group line type “Product

  1. Enter the first few letters of the product and suggestion list will appear.
  2. Click on the product name and it will be added to the product list.
  3. Users can add all the products for which this promotion is applicable.
  4. Clicking on the delete button from the product line will remove products from the list.

Similarly, users can create promotion lines for Base products, product category, group 1, group2 and Vendor.

       11. Click on the Save button from the right bottom.

Promotion Setup #

After creating a Promotion Group the next step is to create Promotion. Here you can  define the type of promotion (and other set ups) with the promotion group. 

The promotion setup will be different based on the promotion type selected.

To access the promotion screen you will need to

  1. Navigate to the main menu
  2. Click on the Administration
  3. Click on the promotion
  4. Click on the  button to get the new promotion creation screen.

Note: The fields mentioned in red * are mandatory.

In this example, I am going to create a promotion with promotion type Promotion A: Qty Based Discounts

  1. Enter the promotion name
  2. Select promotion type Promotion A: Qty Based Discounts
  3. Choose the organization (Keep * if this promotion applicable for all branches)
  4. Enter a value in Relative Priority(higher number will have higher priority)

    * If there are multiple promotions set up for the same time period, then the

 promotions are taken based on their relative priority. Eg. If there are 2 promotions with different promotion types A and B for the same promotion items group, with A having highest priority, then during sales, promotion A will be applied.

  1. Select Active checkbox (The promotion is active in the system only if this is selected)

Repeat :  This Option will allow you to set up recurring time based offers in promotion. To carry out this

  • Enable the Repeat checkbox.
  • Specify the Repeat period Day,Start Time and End Time accordingly.
  1. Select the Preconditions
  • Customer Group * If selected a group, the customers in this group can avail the promotions. Else keep All. 
  • Price List * Select a Price list to which the promotions are to be applied. Else select All. 
  • Promotion Code Enter a promo code. If the promotion rule is met, this valid code is used to avail promotions. 
  • Usage Limit Option to limit the number of times the promotion can be used. 
  • Start Date * Promotion validity start date. 
  • End Date Promotion validity end date. 
  1. Select the promotion group from the dropdown in Promotion Setup(Which is created from promotion group screen)
  2. Click on the  button to add the reward type.

There are 3 types of reward type available for promotion type Promotion A : Qty based discount. Which are as follows.

  • Percentage (To set a discount percentage)
  • Flat Discount (To set a discount amount)
  • Absolute Amount (To set a fixed discounted price)
  1.  Enter the eligible quantity
  2.  Select the reward type (Percentage or Flat Discount or Absolute Amount)
  3.  Enter the Reward Amount

Note: You can create multiple conditions by clicking the 

 button in promotion setup.

  1. Click on the Save button.

How to sell a promotion item?

As per the above promotion if customer buy 1 “NIKE AIR FORCE 1 | BLK8 |” he/ she will get a 10% discount. 

  1. Navigate to the Main menu
  2. Click on the Sales menu
  3. Click on the sale
  4. Add the item to the cart 
  5. Click on checkout (The promotion calculations will get affected only upon sales check-out)

The actual amount of the item is 920. after promotion applied 10% i.e 92 discount added.

Additional Details of available promotion types

Other promotions like Promotion B,C and D also can be created like above but the promotion setup will be different.

Promotion B: Mix and Match

Eg:

Eg:

LEATHER BELT free if you purchase an item from product category FORMAL SHOES In this case you need to create two promotion groups with product LEATHER BELT and Product category FORMAL SHOES.

In promotion setup you will need to set the Eligible Promotion group As Promotion group with Product category FORMAL SHOES and Discounted Promotion Group as promotion group with item  LEATHER BELT like mentioned in the below image.

Promotion C: Bundled Pricing

Eg: 

Buy 2 Nike Shoes for R500. In this case you need to create a promotion group with promotion items Nike Shoes.

In promotion setup, you need to select the created Bundled promotion group and set bundled qty and Bundled prince like mentioned below image.

Promotion D: Reward On Total

Eg: 

If the customer purchases reaches more than 1000 Rand in invoice total, he/she will be able to get a 10% discount on the total amount or get an item free.

If you are creating a promotion with reward type “Percentage Discount On total”, you will need to set only the total amount and Discount Percentage like below.

If you are creating a promotion with the reward type “Free Product”,  you will need to create a promotion group with the free product first.

In promotion setup, you need to choose the reward type as Free Product and Free product set as the created promotion group like below.
